Be mine…
The gift must strike a perfect balance. It must show that they are paying attention to the one they are with… personal, thoughtful, and well chosen.

Grace whispers…
I am not yet the woman I long to be. Instead, I am learning to appreciate the woman I am. The right now in the middle of the mess woman.

Family dinner…
Playful jabs will fall, and tensions will rise. We have a way of pushing each other's buttons. Forgiveness and grace will have to attend our weekly gathering.

Annual meetings…
This process matters as well. The leadership may recommend, but the whole church membership must agree. We don’t always.
-
Winter rest….
I am making it a point to appreciate the rhythm of this season. I want to find little things to enjoy, to relish, rather than wishing away such a huge part of my year.

The day after…
But today, I will rest. I will turn the lights on the tree, listen to Christmas music, eat a few more cookies, and enjoy the afterglow of this beautiful holiday.

Life interrupted…
His path for them included suspicion and doubt, a difficult journey to Bethlehem, and eventual exile to Egypt. None of that was in their plans. This was not an easy path, in fact most of the path was hidden from sight.

Advent wreaths
Our family failed at the Advent wreath for as many years as we have tried to keep it. Changing work schedules never made it easy. Add a few kids with busy schedules arguing and bickering, and the busyness of the season and our little candles were not always a spiritual hit. We tried, we told the stories, and read the scriptures. It was as often on Monday as on Sunday… but we tried. We prayed together and lit the Christ candle on Christmas morning, but it never looked like I imagined it would. We were not that family. Share this...FacebookPinterestTwitterLinkedin

Life with Zoe…
We chose her because she looked like a Newfie, the breeder said she would be a delightful mix. She breeds these newfie lab mixes as rescue dogs. I come from a poodle/ pug/ chihuahua family. Our last dog was a twelve pound Shih Tzu. We have absolutely no skills in the dog training arena. This wasn’t our best idea ever.

Family traditions…
Some years, dad’s ship would be deployed over the holidays leaving the three of us to find ways to make the holiday’s special. My mom, never one to back down from a challenge, would still pull out all the stops for that perfect holiday dinner.
