It's a lot of pressure! Trying to be neutral, welcoming, open, and friendly wears me out. I know there is a lot at stake. Their comfort and ease in the extended family matters.

Mother issues…
Sometimes, I am lazy and careless with my words, their hearts. Sometimes, I tear down instead of build up. Sometimes my hopes and dreams for them get in the way. Sometimes, I need to simply enjoy them here and let them find their way.

Bystanders…
Often we don’t understand their lives because they are so different from ours. Some days anxiety and fear push us to our knees.

Our table…
Friends, and kids from the neighborhood, often joined us at the table. We added a bench (the old church pew) and shoved over to make room.
