Morning coffee…
When I was caught up in the press of life at work, it wasn’t the big things I missed most. It was the little things. I missed a cup of coffee at 10am. I missed walking in the daytime. I missed the simple rhythms of a slower life. Today, I am enjoying them.

Ordinary Tuesdays…
I open the door, and am enveloped by the smells of dinner. Garlic and onion, roasted chicken and sage envelop me. We pour, we serve, and we sit to pray.

Restoring order…
Occasionally when I walk in to someone’s home, I just know we cannot be friends… Kathy’s house and car were always so clean, I felt down right grubby. But she loved me anyway, and I teased her mercilessly.

On sharing a meal…
Shared meals, shared laughs, shared tears, and shared lives are the things that really impact us over time. People matter, and our connections to others need to be cultivated and nurtured in order for them to grow.

At the table…
When did sharing a meal become a revolution? And yet, for us it is combatting isolation and distance that threatens our ability care and share in our hectic world.

Staying home…
So, I come home. To kick off my shoes, pull on sweats, and lean into the rhythms of life at home. The smell of coffee in the morning, slow cooked meals, long conversations, and full solitude all bring me back to myself.
